ORDERING A PIZZA IN 2010 (humor or prophecy)
This must be the first time I even slightly support the ACLU.
It seems to have escaped most on this thread that this little bit of black humor perfectly embodies the schizoid nature of the ACLU: Freud called this projection, but it’s only an Administration like Obama’s that would get close to this kind of invasion of privacy and monitoring
of personal information, buying habits and worse,
More..political “preference” or affiliation, not to mention voting patterns, and of course the ACLU defends Administrations like Obama’s . There is NO reason to think the ACLU means what it says here, because the implication is that all of this comes from the Bush Administration and their gross violation of our rights. Once again, Freud called this projection, and the ACLU has just revealed itself in a most naked way.
The ACLU has absolutely ZERO problem with the government collecting astronomical amounts of personal data when it comes to income taxes (or any other taxes), gun registration and racial composition in public schools and businesses. The ACLU has consistenly and strongly OPPOSED individual privacy with respect to various indoctrination schemes foisted upon the public schools. The ACLU also didn't say peep when Mike Nifong perpetrated a gross injustice, even though Duke University has a local chapter. Lastly, in many instances the ACLU has showed itself to be no friend of free speech whenever the speech is critical of homosexuality or Islam.
The ACLU is simply a phony organization that doesn't consistently support or believe in civil liberties. Instead, it's an organization that seeks to promote a loathsome political agenda behind a facade of civil liberties. And I have no doubt that with Obama in charge, the ACLU will have NO problem with the government collecting enormous amounts of personal information.

you say
"And I have no doubt that with Obama in charge, the ACLU will have NO problem with the government collecting enormous amounts of personal information. "
Now, I ask... as an extension of Bush's illegal wiretapping program?

You mean FISA? The one that was reaffirmed by Obama?

That's the one alright.
It all goes around and around. If you think governmental transgressions are the sole property of any one party, you are playing right into their hands.

Am I the only person who doesn't really care if this happens?
I've got nothing to hide, I don't care who knows my personal info.

Not far out at all. Congress is working on a bill that will make everyone's personal medical history public record. If they pass national health care, they want a government review board to handle any and all cases and they will decide what care you get.

Of course a Brit would agree with all this...
the british are watching their rights disappear and none of them seem to care.
