  • "Destroyed in Tshinval". I.e., within the city. Don't remember where I saw that account, sorry, pretty sure it wasn't in the mass media, anyway.

The way I heard it, the only heavy stuff Tshinval defenders had was 3 peacekeepers' BMPs that were lost early on. And then Ossetian militia managed to capture a Georgian tank. Other than that, it was infantry weapons for two days until Russian reinforcements reached them.

    • A tank fist launches a rocket propelled grenade - a RPG? That's why the "other" grenade launchers are called mortars?

    • Other story: I have read in a german newspaper recently that the Russians had a lot of chain mail in Georgia. This was an idiot's translation of armour i.e. tanks I guess.

    • Fact: most of the Georgian tanks destroyed in Tshinval were knocked out by infantry weapons. Including the one they showed in that clip.
