This is a wonderful Portrait of the dutch politician Ayaan Hirsi Ali, who if anyone embodies what might be termed "Islamic backfire" in Europe.

It is interesting to notice what an uproar it caused as she left the social-democrats and joined the liberal party. Many a left-wing "intellectual" had been fascinated by her beauty, history and clarity of thought. As she turned her back on the left-wing many people not least within the media were gobschmacked. They felt betrayed and couldn´t understand how she could do this to them.

This was in 2004, and if one should set a date as to when Europe changed direction, the day that an elected, black, circumsized, muslim apostate, immigrant, intellectual author fled the social-democrats, and forced by her own conscience joined the right-wingers might not be a bad bet
