The US cannot accept legal immigrants. All our resources go to providing for the millions of illegals. But hey, we have really nice yards now and if you need a scaffold built that's easily done as well...

i think good points wareen but you havea bad habit of generalizing. Not all immigrants are hard workers and not all americans are slothlike. I'm sure you realize this but when you say things like this it takes away from you good points. Starting an argument with a fallacy nullifies the argument.
Leeches aren't specific to any one race or culture but you have to admit that the american work ethic is what has made the US.
Good point about todays education standards, they are a joke. I recently went back to school to finish a degree and i was amazed at what was required for the students to pass the classes. College in america is becoming an extension of high school.
I think we should get paid by our IQ levels, =)

do you think that lowering the standards was a conscious decision made by our education system or just the byproduct of undereducated educators?

From a moral stand point you are probably correct, the government should in theory offer some kind of refuge for those people but at the same time why impose even more unwanted strains on our public services and introduce more immigrants into an already pressured society. The only people it will effect is us plebs and we don't want it.
As for the scum you speak of in pubs and playing bingo, they are my scum and we have enough of them to deal with without adding other types of criminals that come with differing cultures.
Like I said last time, the indegnous population taking the piss is easier to stomach than outsiders coming in and taking the piss.

Not a chance! I cannot speak for citizens of the UK, as I have no idea what they are considering. Nor do I presume too speak for all US citizens. I do however speak from experience, and I can say with some level of certainty that your suggestion, while generous, would never be seriously considered.
Help the civilians reconstruct areas destroyed by the war(s) ? Yes. Help train selected members of the civilian workforce(s) to continue the work in our absence ? You bet! Even send ludicrous amounts of funds, primarily to Iraq but even to a lesser but increasing extent Afghanistan ? Unbelievably, yep.
But allow those immigrants entry into the now immigrant-phobic US ? Request denied. Next please.

A lot of the "education" system has become a business. I've even seen students called, customers.
Yeah and if we were to see what some of these public school administrators made, the average American would look twice at their property tax lien!
