  • Am I the only one who gets irritated by stupid music distorting the beautiful symphonies of engine sounds?

  • The V8 still gets better fuel economy than the rotary, lol :P

  • Sounds badass. Clip should have been longer with some technical & performance details.

  • The TD RX7 was one of my all time favorite looking cars of all time. This was a rare vehicle to start off with, so why remove the rotary? For the Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift movie we brought a 1000hp turbo version of this car which is substantially more powerfull than the vette engine.
Don't get me wrong Zang, I love the sound of this car but the balance with the big engine and the value of this car went down to 20 fold.

I guess I learn something new every day brother. That sounds like you had a lot of fun. How did you keep all that torque to the ground? It must've been light as a feather.

    • @mediaeinstein Im a huge fan of the Rotary engine,i had a 1985 GSL-SE RX-7 with twin side draft 2 barrel Webbers etc.,but this is one hell of a project with that V-8 in there that is why i posted this, plus the 90's RX-7's are a great body style in my opion.

Don't get me wrong. I knew no matter what I said on this it would come out sideways. I love all vehicles in general. No question this was a major undertaking and looks and drives clean. I just have a hard time with changing the breed of car entirely. So I'll hypocrytically retort that I'm debating on building a car as we speak with a BMW S85 V-10 powerplant. DDR Motorsports in Florida makes a McLaren chassis and body which a local craftsman wants to refine. About 50K in parts and a lo More..

Didja know that the 350 small block is even lighter than the factory straight six? Pretty insane going from a 2400 lb car to a 2250 lb car with double the HP & Torque. My cousins got a 73 with a 240 block, 280 head, cam, triple webbers & headers. Scary as fuck when he shifts into fourth @ 100+ MPH & you fell the ass end slide out a bit. Always better to be the driver, than the passenger. :@)

  • Once saw a guy with a Mazda Miata that had a 5.0 Mustang GT engine in it. I believe they're called Super Miata's. Took me a sec to realize the sound I was hearing was, in fact, coming from that tiny car.

  • Should have just bought a vette or added more power to the rotary.

    This?

    This is an abomination.

  • You could have put more turbo and got the same results! Nice car though

  • I've seen nicer FD3S's which were converted. Hinson Supercars is the company responsible for making the motor/tranny mounts for the RX7 FC or FD chassis.

I have a LS2 (6.0 from a GTO) engine inside my 1999 BMW M3, Dave Hinson custom built a drive shaft for me, the rest was bought at Vorshlagg Motorsports. These engines are absolute beast mode.

My really good friend just sold his FD3S, except, his was powered by a Supercharged LS6. That's a Corvette ZO6 motor for the people that don't k More..

Is that your M3 on youtube bro? I think I've seen that one before or perhaps it was a 5.0 mustang i was thinking of. I own a 95 Dinan OBDI 3.0 and it's been bulletproof. I upgraded to Euro control arms & front end wiht solid balljoints, X-brace and a Scorpian tin can from the cat back. I'm sure I've replaced every electronic switch but mechanically, no complaints with the torture I put it through.
