Tank shoots reporters camera over.

April 8, 2003 an abram tank on the bridge near the palestine hotel fires at a camera on a tripod on a balcony of the hotel. No doubt the camera on a tripod could look like a weapon from far away but company commanders got gps coordinates prior to the invasion of the palestine hotel which was full of reporters.

  • I was not trying to offend anyone with this video. I was just showing some footage i had from the invasion. I watched it live for hours and recorded that day. I was awe struck by what our military was actually doing despite claims from baghdad bob that we were not in iraq. I was very proud of my men and women of that day despite the war winding up to be a bullshit cause you cannot put the these men and women down for doing what they were told to do and they did it WELL!

  • I watched that shot live, on CNN. It was on something like 4 am, EST or something.

    1) From another hotel, it was reported that RPG's were being fired from windows.

    2) With this feed of tank combat maneuvers being viewed live over CNN, it was active intel unfortunately for enemy just as it was fascinating news for any onlooker. It could therefor be justified that that footage, in the heat of battle, of the tactics and tank positions taking the bridge, could simply not be reported (by 3rd More..

  • One problem with this. Intel hardly ever get diseminated to the troops at the bottom. The tank platoon (or company, can't remember) was being mortared, and one tank thought the reporter on the roof with the camera tripod, was in fact a mortar forward observer with a laser spoting devise. It is all in the book Thunder Run, about the armored assult into Baghdad. The commander of the unit even talks about how the individual tanks under his command did not know which building the reporters were More..

    No, actually they don't!

    Now.

Please supply any data you have proving that the U.S. has done so. e.g. Basra, Palastine, Kabul, et. bul.

Since the data from THIS instance clearly shows that only a fool or a libtard moron would condemn the gunner, and even a libtard fool like you hasn't even TRIED to refute it, I suggest the the "evidence" you provide for your next libtard argument in support of some moronic libtard assertion be a little more heavy on the facts and a little lighter on the libtard stupidity.

Now go back to circle-jerking with the libtard sheeple that married your sisters. Wouldn't want your BAAAHther's in law to think that the libtard goat-lover they've humped so often skipped out on them, would you?

There you go again, telling me what my position is.. I don't blame the actions of the gunner at all in this particular instance, even though US generals knew for a fact that over 200 journalists were staying at the Palestine Hotel, they did act with what I would call restraint(for the US army), when they could have just leveled the building.

But you couldn't accuse anyone of jumping to conclusions to suggest they were targeted on purpose, given the track record. As well as the Basra Sheraton Hotel, which was also known by the US to be used by international journalists, which was shelled on 2nd April 2003, the Al Jazeera Baghdad office was struck by a missile on the 8th April. Not forgetting the bombing of Al Jazeera and BBC offices in Kabul, Nov 2001.

    Yeah, ridiculous assertion.

I'm not making assertions, I am suggesting that the possibility cannot be ruled out entirely. It's a well know and irrefutable fact that US bombs fell on the offices of Al Jazeera in Baghdad, Basra and Kabul, you could try and argue that these were accidental bombings, which is highly unlikely given the location and knowledge of there whereabouts. So one possible and likely conclusion is they were bombed because of their critical reporting of the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, so too any media network or journalists reporting critically cannot be ruled out as possible US targets.

BTW, I have yet to see you ever support one of your arguments with anything other than personal attacks, which are also weak and consist of the usual petty name calling.

Thats a given.. but 200 unilateral journalists thought this was a secure location, made their presence known to US commanders on the ground and that still didn't prevent a US tank from shelling the building, killing 2 cameramen, injuring dozens more.
