Taxi driver thinks Americans are No.1 and Chinese are No.2

That is true impression among average Chinese people, especially among those who work in service industries. They don't like to serve Europeans and Japanese because they are cheap. Americans and Chinese are generous when giving tips or bargaining prices. The Chinese like Americans. Don't believe propaganda BS in official media.c

  • Yep, as most people have already said, most taxi drivers, camel riders, horse riders or what have you, any form of transport and well bartering, they will butter you up as much as they can. Really, they couldn't care less where you're from or hate your guts, it's all about the money, like it is for most people. Let's not be naive here, Europeans travel more and are just more wise to the ways of this kinda thing.

    • @Ferrante America is a very strange country, when you get the bill in a restaurant, it looks like this:

      Price
      x

      + 10% tip

      Total

They just add the tip to the bill, you must pay it, they have forgotten that a tip is something you get for doing your job very well.

      Exactly.
The underlying cause being that base wages are relatively low (or even non-existing for some hospitality jobs) in the USA

  • That is so funny how stupid Americans are. You are American and he says America is No #1. Next, a N1gger from Somalia sits in there and he will tell him, Somalia is No #1. Its about selling man, how stupid you must be to not understand this.

    • His gimmick works on german tourists too.
You guys are silly how you think 350 million of us fit some profile.
The difference between a prussian and a bavarian might not be that significant, so perhaps that is where such thinking stems from. All germans are the same so that is probably how it is elsewhere.

    • @Nazel_Hut Thing is though in America waitresses are on terrible money some I believe are on $2.50 an hour and rely on tips.
Here no one is on less than say $10 an hour due to minimum wage law.If someone gives me good service I like to give them something but leaving £25 on a £100 meal is too much unless it has been exceptional.

  • He tells every passenger that their country is the best. Only difference is, the Americans are the only ones who believe it, and the only ones who tip in a country with no tipping culture.

    • @EurJup2 No we traded opium that we got from afganistan and traded the chinese for their tea. When the chinese decided they weren't allowing us to trade in opium we sent the royal navy and intern they allowed it again and also through in hong kong for good measure :)

    • @Lake8737 You're a dick head and you haven't a clue about Chinese opinion of UK. You haven't travelled around China and simply don't know what you're talking about.

Hong Kong people love the UK, and from speaking with my American friends in China generally people from the UK get a much better treatment than Americans in China. So your one man taxi story is just a waffling sack of shit.

"That is true impression among average Chinese people," Riiiiight. We base all this on one taxi driver.

  • I can attest to Asians tending to be very cheap, having worked in retail in the past.

In fact, I remember going into a McDonald's for lunch one day (years ago) and it was SMASHED, probably the most crowded I'd ever seen a McDonalds ever get, and there was this Asian couple holding up the line over a few cents regarding their order. The line actually had gotten to the point that it went ALL the way to the back of the restaurant, THEN curved and started to form a "U" **back** to the fro More..
