Signal 30 (Part 4 of 4)
WARNING: GRAPHIC. The Ohio Highway Patrol made this film from footage of wrecks in the Mansfield area in 1959. High School kids watched this stuff at Drivers' Education class a half century ago. Like an early 1960s version of Ogrish.

Jeez, can you imagine the uproar if we tried to show that to today's kids? Their parents would lose it if they found out the schools were upsetting their precious darlings with such vile images...which is kind of ironic because today's kids have probably seen far worse online by now anyway, so it'd probably do little more than bore them.
Have we really changed that much in just a few decades?

Thanks for the post! They stopped showing these when I went through Drivers Ed, but people before me always talked about them. I think they made an impact on the young skulls full of mush! ;)

This video is a great example of how far the auto industry has come to improve safety. Those cars made prior to about the mid 1960's were complete death traps. Nothing but sharp nasty pieces of metal all over the interior, no seat belts, horrible brakes, etc.... Even the smallest cars made today are safer than the biggest ones made 40 or 50 years ago.

Give the kids at school such a movie to watch in class at least once a year. Better have them shocked than dead.
It's a matter of education.

They should still show these types of videos today people just dont get it driving is a privelage not a right and these vehicles are a loaded gun. And i beleive prople over 65 should have to do
driving test every yr there after to see if they are competent enough and sane enough. And make the video in HD.
