only in our wildest dreams. this is the kinder, gentler military. what we really need is enough troops for a hammer and anvil approach. no where to run.

US marines are nothing more than basic infantry with a fancy name that gives the uneducated a feeling of being an "elite" fighting force. Royal Marine Commandos and British Paras are considered world wide as being elite fighting forces...British Rifle regiments also spend x2 as much time in basic training than US marines/Army soldiers...

I'm neutral on this subject but... do you have any real proof. And not just they train longer because, if you train a retard for 10 years to fight he still won't be the best. Not that I'm calling any soldiers retards, just a bad analogy.

US Marines spend 11 weeks in boot camp, their individual training after that... not quite sure on the specifics but I think it ends up being 16 weeks. Do you Brits really train for 32 weeks?...

  • I trained as a Royal Marine in Devon.

34 weeks basic training, ending in a route march with full pack and rifle.

    And that's just the start.
