Long Liyuan died after eating a hot pot dish that was allegedly

Long Liyuan, representative of
Guangdong's provincial People's Congress and general manager of Lite
Wood, has died after showing symptoms of poisoning following a meal at
Bajia Hot Pot City, a restaurant in Yangchun. Two of Long's associates,
who also ate at the restaurant, showed minor symptoms but were deemed
healthy after receiving emergency treatment at a local hospital.

On Dec. 23, a source reported to the Yangcheng Evening News that Long, a
billionaire from Maoming, a city in Guangdong, had been poisoned by
competitors at a banquet and had died in Bajia town in the city of

Earlier that day, when eating at Bajia Hot Pot City with two friends,
one of Long's associates suggested that something was off with the dish,
asking if there was a possibility it had been poisoned. The other
friend responded by saying that "bitterness is good for your health."
Long drank a bowl of soup and reportedly showed signs of poisoning
immediately, while the other two also had minor symptoms. The three were
rushed to the hospital, where Long died after all emergency measures

The local police are now conducting an investigation into the incident.
