Teacher unions are responsible for the decline of quality in education in this country.
If we could lay off the bottom 7-8% of the LOWEST PERFORMING teachers in this country, we would have the best education in the world.
However, unions are much more interested in what they can get from liberal politicians and protecting their members (based upon seniority, not quality, by the way). Most teachers are good at what they do, but we can't SETTLE for the quality of education in this country.

@cswartz Based on my experience with unions many of the people you see are not teachers or even members of the union. They will be paid by the unions for showing up and marching.
