Junior Saleem Oakes, also known as Mohammed Saleem (Salim) Junior Oakes,
28, was found in the garden of a house on Allens farm in south
Birmingham, according to PA sources.

The suspect was taken to a police station in the West Midlands for questioning, a force spokesman said.

Detectives had earlier taken the "unusual step" of naming Oakes and appealing for the public's help to locate him.

Police said the man and woman involved in the
incident are thought to have been travelling together in the taxi and
may have been involved in a relationship.

A West Midlands
Ambulance Service spokesman said the woman suffered multiple serious
injuries after she was knifed repeatedly while still in the car.

The
taxi driver called emergency services after the attack, in the
Northfield area of Birmingham, but the woman was in cardiac arrest when
paramedics arrived and could not be saved.

The 22-year-old victim has not been named. A post-mortem is due to take place on Wednesday.
