On the 6th of September, 2012, the DC zoning board held a hearing on a proposed luxury hotel at Euclid and Champlain sts NW in DC, in Adams-Morgan. If built, the hotel would displace at least one low income apartment building directly and lead to later displacement of most or all low income housing on the entire block of Champlain st south of Euclid st.
An estimated 150 people turned out at the zoning hearing to oppose the developer's plans.. This is a video interview with one of those 150 opponents of the hotel. Apparently the developer tried to get by with very inadequate plans, so the zoning board was unable to even address the proposal and was forced to schedule another hearing for the following week to look at some real plans for the proposal.
