I can't speak for British soldiers, I'm not familiar with their pay or wages. However, as a veteran, I can assure that the figures stated here are wrong. When I got out of the military in 2009 as a Staff Sargeant I was making around just over $62 000 a year. That was my base pay plus my Basic allowance housing, Cost of living allowance. Off course, as a boot I started way lower, but definetely no where near to what is stated in here. Though I agree with you, to be doing that kind of job More..

Where do you get that the average US soldier gets $1500 a month?? As an E5, I made about $5,000.00 per month. $2,965.00 base pay, $1,725.00 housing allowance, $325.00 for food.

The only rank in the U.S. military that currently makes less then $1500 is a private E-1 which doesn't make up the average soldier, sailer, airmen or Marine. @Defensor I did it once, actually pay has increased for our current military. I think I made 1100 a month as a private. At the time I thought I was rich LOL. But no, now with a wife, kids, house and two new cars there is no way to survive on that low of a budget. Wouldn't cover my mortgage.
