Scarborough Goes on Rant: "Bachmann is a joke! Her candidacy is a joke!"

Michelle Bachmann got a steaming hot cup of Morning Joe thrown in her face today, when conservative MSNBC host, Joe Scarborough, when on a protracted rant about the irrelevancy of the Iowa straw poll and Bachmann's possibility of winning the Presidency.
At the heart of Scarborough's indignation and ire, was Bachmann's recent statement that she "wished the federal government had defaulted" rather than raise the debt ceiling. Scarborough rightly points out that many Americans lost up to half of their pensions and 401Ks as a result of the brinksmanship displayed in the recent debt ceiling debate and the subsequent downgrading by Standard & Poors and wild stock market plunge that followed.
For my money, Scarborough is right on the nose when he says that the Iowa straw poll is a dog-and-pony show for a bunch of hayseeds that enjoy the limelight of having Presidential candidates pander to them while they eat in their local cafe or visit them at their family mushroom canning operation. The straw poll has absolutely no correlation to how a particular candidate will fare in their bid for the GOP nomination, as Iowa is simply not an accurate microcosm of the rest of the country.
And I also agree that Michelle Bachmann doesn't have a chance of getting anywhere near the Presidency, let alone the GOP nomination. Her ultra-conservative/ultra-religious base is about to be split down the middle by Rick Perry's recent entry into the race and she doesn't exactly enjoy broad support from moderate Republicans and independent voters.
On the other side of the coin, look for Rick Perry's campaign to unravel quickly once his skeletons start tumbling out of the closet. The biggest bones of which will be:
1.) The fact that the "Texas economic miracle" that he takes credit for was funded almost entirely from stimulus funds.
2.) The fact that he became a millionaire during his tenure as Governor of Texas, thanks to his "cash for favors" style of doing business and numerous "sweetheart" real estate deals from big-money special interest donors.
3.) Despite his having just signed a budget that makes deep and painful austerity cuts to education and social welfare programs, and which will ultimately cost hundreds of thousands of jobs to the people of Texas.... Rick Perry lives in a sprawling, rented mansion that has cost the taxpayers of that state $700,000 to date and counting.

Once Perry and Bachmann fever have run their course in the hinterlands, and the rest of America finds them to be lacking, Ron Paul will still be gaining support for his common sense ideas, dignified statesmanship and unassailable integrity.
If Ron Paul can succeed in winning the GOP nomination, he will not only beat Obama in a walk, but he will return dignity and common sense to the office of the President... something that has been sorely lacking in this country for a generation or more.

  • All of this nationally aired political discourse between liberals and conservatives has divided our country. Ever since Clinton was impeached, we have been going down this road and the bridge is out ahead. We need someone to step up and take charge and build a GD bridge or our country is fooked. I say stop watching all these news channels, all of them, they're nothing but crap. They are not GD news, that's for damned sure; and fvck you Scarborough!

  • I'm still waiting on a commentary on Bachmann where the commentator doesn't go moon-bat on her. I have yet to see an honest look at her by anybody. I'm not saying she is fit to co-chair a PTA meeting, but ridiculous commentary like this and others posted on LiveLeak seem to be the norm. These shows are only slightly more mature than a highschool student council meeting voting to repeal the law of gravity. Only slightly.

    • @Yukon6400 Cause she spends most of her time doing shows that are safe for her. She never answers the questions people have for her.

You mean like the founders of this country? The ones who created the greatest nation in the history of humanity?

I've said it before, liberals are the most hate filled, bigoted racists in American politics and I'm looking forward to destroying the man that represents idiots like you in 2012

    • @bouymarker The problem with your comment is that Obama is not far left.
      I know, I know........
You guys won't believe that because you can't stop calling him a communist and a marxist long enough to take a breath of air and get some oxygen to your brain.
The right has swung so far to the right, just as it has before with the christian conservatives, that fucking reagan looks like a communist to them.
I doubt you will find many Obama fans on the far left at all.
He is far too moderate and centri More..

    • @bouymarker Sounds like you need Ron Paul. Atleast you sounding like some of the real conservatives on LL. Just watch out for the Neo-Cons. They are infiltrating your ranks.

    • @Tongueboy I agree. Obama is more like Bush in every sense but Bush was a Neo-Con. Obama wanted to be this peace broker and bent to the will of the extreme right and now look where our country is. Its a damn shame. This is why I can only hope Ron Paul wins.

  • it's called a straw poll because it's done to give an idea of which way the wind is blowing. the people who voted for her are leaning in her direction, that's all. why so much emotion?

    • @_Byron_ It's amusing and scary how people like you can twist something so simple.
She is a nut with no chance of winning.
He called her a nut with no chance of winning.
He is not jealous of Big Gay Marcus, he is not sad she wasn't on his show, he doesn't hate powerful women, he just called it like it is.
Something you will never be able to do, accept or comprehend because you are so far removed from reality.
No need to take my word for it, just go back and read all your own comments and tell me More..

aww did Obama's teleprompter tell you to say that? Do you see dead people? Because I see debt man walking in 2012!

As to Bachmann, it won't matter who wins the nomination, one thing is sure, Obama will lose and his replacement will be a hellova lot better

  • I see you're a Ron Paul guy who is giving credence to Scarborough's opinion. The statement by Bachmann that Joe takes issue with regarding default is the same position that Paul has taken:

"Unless major changes are made today, the U.S. will default on its debt sooner or later, and it is certainly preferable that it be sooner rather than later. We have a choice: default now and take our medicine, or put it off as long as possible, when the effects will be much worse."

    If the issue of More..

    • @e4bannan @e4bannan

      Nope, sorry. False dichotomy.

The argument is not the default issue itself, but rather Bachmann's statement that she "wishes we had defaulted", while ignoring the fact that millions of Americans had a huge chunk of their retirement investments wiped out as a result of the brinksmanship.

There's a huge difference between RP saying 'we're going to default sooner or later' during the debate, and Bachmann saying 'I wish we had defaulted' after the debate was over More..

    • @EventHorizon2012

Then Scarboroughs and your argument is a straw man. She never said she wishes we defaulted. That's a talking point.

      What she said:

It — it was very important that we not raise the debt ceiling, because — consider what happened. The Congress gave Barack Obama a blank check for $2.4 trillion. What did the American people get in return? $21 billion in illusory cuts.
So from the time I’ve been in Congress, we’ve gone from $8.67 trillion in debt to now almost double, t More..
