Safe Mode: On
U.S. Plans to Justify Assassination of Americans

Call it "targeted killing" or "termination with extreme prejudice", a state has no right to kill its citizens without due process of law. The potential for abuse is huge. There is no accountability, only the say so of the president and the echos of the press that he or she was a "threat" to national security. If this is allowed to happen without the public lifting a finger in protest, it won't be long before surveillance drones, which already are used by police all over the U.S., are used for targeted killings on the US soil as well.

Watch carefully the legal reasoning that is going to issue from the pen and mouth of the Attorney General Eric Holder. He's said he was going to explain why political assassinations of US citizens are justified. Under Bush we had the legalization of torture, BHO goes one step further.

  • Stupid over the top sensationalism.

An American AQ leader who has declared war on the USA deserves only a quick death from a Hellfire missile. That's also American justice.

    • @wharris
This is way different. The feds don't need to have a person be an immediate threat to take them out like swat does. They won't kill them with drones here in the US, as it is easier and cheaper to make it look like a robbery, drug deal or some other street crime.

      Well, here we go...
It is easier to cover up an assassination by making it look like random street crime, than it is using a hellfire missile inside of the US. The government has done it before, but only in foreign territories and not our own, as far as we know.

Swat terms don’t kill someone just because he MIGHT be a terrorist or person associated with a terrorist organization. Swat kills people who are an immediate threat to themselves or others.

  • If the US has solid evidence not like the weapons of mass destruction crap that a "US citizen" is working for terrorist groups then "bombs away"...you expect the US to let him attack first then respond?...

    • @gizmo8 Yes but "solid evidence" by what standards? If there is no public review anyone that makes BHO uncomfortable can be dispatched under this pretext, that's where the danger lies. Totalitarian regimes use exactly the same excuses to get rid of intellectuals, whistleblowers, etc.

I agree 100% They passed into law legislation giving the executive branch the authority to take US CITIZENS from US territory and move them out of the country. All of this with the accused never seeing a judge, no one being told where he was and they can be held indefinately without charges.

If anyone thinks this is OK then you are damaged.
Look at the Constitution it is the document where the power of this government is governed. They are shredding it in front of our very eyes.

    • @Kmanbay I think by demonizing a part of humanity (terrorists, Muslims etc.) the gov obtains the assent of those who were convinced by the rhetoric (most sheeple) to "smoke them out" without them realizing the same cruelty they accept against the "enemy" will one day be applied to them.

  • Press TV - an Iranian News broadcaster. Or, put another way, the international propaganda arm of the Iran government, so take whatever they say with a very large pinch of salt. In fact, what they're really doing here is highlighting what they fear themselves most of all. Death from the sky, with no warning whatsoever. They fear it, so they do all they can to discredit it. Cheers, Iran!

bullshit? its already happened... Anwar al-Awlaki was a US citizen with no evedence of him being a terrorist the US suspected him of being a terrorist and they smoked him for it. Don't get me wrong they (the Government) was probably right about him being a terrorist but there is a due process. even timothy mcveigh got his day in court. Imagine if they just shot him before he went to trial. where does it end? Some says your robbed a liquor store and navy seals are at your door shootin More..
