White Zombie, killer electric drag racer
John Wayland has built "White Zombie", a modified '70s Datsun that is the world's fastest accelerating street legal electric car, taking it from its original 69HP from internal combustion, to a now electron-powered 300HP.
12-second quarter-mile. Bad ass.

I will buy a smart car. It will have 5hp. Then I will install a turbo and NOZ. It will then have 6hp.

It must have HUGE G-force when you launch off the line.
I'd miss my V8 RUMBLE though...

What waste? It's all recycled into new batteries.

Correct, they just get recycled.

What a sanctimonious heap of bullshit. Driving around with 60 lead and acid filled containers that required electricity to produce. Such bullshit. Environmentalist my ass.

Stop talking about stuff you obviously have no clue about. Do some reading about efficiency of electric engines vs. ICE before you spew BS. Even with electricity produced by coal plants it's more environmentally friendly.

The guy is not an environmentalist. That's all I'm saying. If he wants to be a gofast gear head that's fine.
If Obama put his smartmeter in his house he wouldn't be able to charge up his batteries anyways. Besides that, who is he to be taking up more than his 'fair share' of electricity? Just so he can go fast for 1/4 of a mile?
Environmentalist? Not.
Batteries don't produce energy the just store electricity.
And I don't even want to guess how much he paid for them batteries. At least 50 grand probably a lot more.
This totally slanted puff piece was designed to put electric cars in a favorable light. Notice the shot of the diesel powered truck's exhaust as it leaves the start line. Yeah lets make sure to get a shot of the black smoke. But isn't this guy also smoking his tires to heat them up? Yeah he just put a bunch of nasty mythical 'greenhouse' gas in the air.
So you see, it's not so simple to just claim you're an 'environmentalist'.
The only true environmentalist car has stone wheels and a frame made of tree logs ala Fred Flinstone.

Electric cars are not slow. I saw an EV1 once, it seemed to be really quick.

yeah making litium ion batterys is envoirnmentally freindlly, my a**

Hmmm it is not all about the battery...But the battery is a huge part. Once battery technology imporoves sowill electric cars.
He should next try to make it more aero-dynamic...That box shape puts a lot of unecessary drag (air friction) on it making is slower. Making it more aero-dynamic will increase the speed considerably.

I think it would be cool to have a computer program and speakers r some sound modulating system installed in an electric of fuel cell car that mimics a big block V-8 when you use the accelerator...It probably would not be very difficult to do at all.
