The sports car of rotory wing aircraft
that's correct it would awesome to be able to take a ride in one of those
Had that chance in '85 in Darmstadt (Griesheim). Several of us from my Huey unit had a pilot come in for a demo. When it came my turn he asked what I'd like to see it do. I said performance. It was the most fun I've ever had with my pants on!

lol that's awesome the only helicopters I ever got to ride in were Blackhawks and Chinooks I would love to go for a ride in a Huey also but for a pure adrenaline rush I bet this helicopter is hard to beat.

It is. I was used to standing on the skid of a huey (with a harness) doing fire bucket missions in NY. A hard left turn would having me facing the ground before the pilot would roll out of it. That's a rush in itself. But when this guy rolled that 105 over for what is known on a gunship as an RTT, a return to target gun dive, it was easily 170 degrees! And he had this amazing control touch that made all his maneuvers smooth as a good scotch.
As you can see, close to 25 years later, I remember that ride like it was yesterday.
There are only two of these helicopters flying today, one in Europe, and the other in North America. They have been specially adapted to do what they do...such as shortening of the main rotors to withstand the stress of such aerobatics. It IS amazing what they can do..but not typical of the BO 105.
