@Atrey Or trained militants from conflict zones in Algeria, Iraq, Libya or Yemen.
They probably have been teaching them these sought of tactics in Turkey and Kosovo.

Ain't militant style, don't see much chained bomb this days in Algeria or other places beside Iraq just after military breakdown.
Turkey yes but it's not the same as Yemen and cie!

@Meevinman Most of the IED's are probably artillery shells brought over by defectors. But i'm not sure.

@the demon With what was seized in the port of Tripoli last month, i wouldn't be surprised if it was Saudi explosives, which is where the shipment was traced back to.

@Atrey agreed but efp doesnt always prevent ied's detonating. Depends on what trips it as im sure your aware. I trust neither side im afraid in this conflict or any other in the arab conflict zones.

It didn't seem to have any effect.
Perhaps they were anti-personnel mines like claymores and they put them in backwards :-)

Does Southern Thailand count? Yala, Pattani, Narathiwat? If so I certainly have and I took my kids along to sightsee the insurrection.
Next month I'm visiting Shan State and the Karen region to get an up-to-date view of their insurrection against the Myanmar (Burma) State.
Yourself? And I don't count Glasgow as a conflict zone.

@DEADBEEF I didnt mean a war tourist i meant taking part in operations in a conflict zone and witnessing first hand the mess these things make of people, allied and opposition, and also yes to your question, I have deployed to middle east conflict. You need ask no further questions about this as i will not disclose. Suffice to say, I played my part, giving 110%+.

In some of the Ied videos you see the vehicle flip...and those in this video didn't even look like armored or millitary vehicles. But I have never been in war so I don know how they work..obviously shrapene can be an issue too....

@Bthor420 the ieds seen here were set the opposite side of the vehicles from where the camera view is. directed probably to go towards the side and up slightly in order to maximise shrapnel to the side of the vehicle. The whole point of a daisy chain is not to go off underneath the vehicle and thereby disabling it and creating a block in the road but to maximise death/mutilation. the ied that goes up underneath a vehicle is mostly aimed at stopping the vehicle to create a roadblock and thereby c More..

To people saying it didnt have any effect...cars dont just stop if they are penetrated with shrapnel. Wanna be inside those cars with flying sharp pieces of metal flying through them?

@Bthor420 shrapnel on unarmored vehicles is devastating. the passengers had to have been hit, and the vehicle can just keep on rolling with untold devastation inside the cabin. i think this was effective at least against the pickups.

Yea someoone who was in war and knew what hey were taking about explained to me the most likely the intended result wasn't to blow up the vehicles, but to sen shrapnel through the vehicles....a daisy chain I think is what he called it
