A Mujahideen attack on an Afghan military checkpoint has left at least ten local Afghan soldiers killed in Afghanistan’s southern Helmand Province .

At least four soldiers were injured and five others went missing in the Taliban offensive in the city of Vashir on Sunday night, Helmand governor office spokesman Davood Ahmadi said.


Ahmadi noted the attack was an insider plot, which helped Taliban members launch the attack on the army post.



Afghan Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, putting the number of the killed soldiers at 16.


The US-led war in Afghanistan, which has caused record-high civilian and military casualties, has become the longest military conflict in the American history.
