  • Humans are the most self destructive species of all the species on earth. There is no greater madness than nuclear technology for our time.

    • @Anonyville

You anti-war liberals aught to be hailing nuclear technology as one of the greatest anti-war inventions of all time. It kept the Cold War from getting hot and brought a quick end to World War 2 sparing both sides of a long and bloody invasion of Japan.

    • @WolfBite120 Your assuming I'm liberal. Not everybody who thinks nuclear energy is madness is liberal. I wonder if the Japanese feel the same way. Especially now that they have been nuked not once but twice. Once by America and the second by the tsunami. Maybe the east coast needs to suffer the same fate for Americans to wise up and take their heads out of the sand. Apparently 3 mile island taught America nothing. Most likely because it was on an island. Wonder what the outcry would be if that m More..

  • This technology is already 65 years old, it's primitive.
And the problem today is that only primitive people still really want to have it.

    • @Valerie2007 a modern weapon would be biological. it leaves all the infastructure and wealth alone. Imagen a virus that targeted people with certain ammount of pigment in our skin? or a genetic trait that is common on 1 contintant. thats the future of warfair. and not a nice one :D

    • @TomThumb

That would not be a modern weapon but a "science fiction" one. Biological weapons have been tried and perfected for centuries and they never delivered any of their promises: too hard to control, not effective enough, and not specific at all.

If you want a weapon that would leave all the infastructure and the wealth intact, that would be a neutron bomb. But even that is already a 30-year old concept...

Primitive? Gunpowder was invented in the 9th century! What you want is a disarmed West which is open to attack. Nuclear weapons are not the source of our modern problems, it is our interventionalist foreign policy which is stirring up all the trouble. Big government which has a virtually limitless source of fiat currency and credit to finance massive warfare and global military presence.

Yes, gunpowder is also primitive. Where's the problem with that? Primitive doesn't mean ineffective, just that it's a technology now so old and ordinary that it is at the reach of any 3rd world dictator. That was the problem that I was referring to, a problem that I would like not to have but which we have to live with, there is absolutely no other way around (and contrary to what you state, I don't want a disarmed West, where did you read that nonsense?). That's the situation, on More..

    • @Valerie2007 Where do you think bird flu came from? In the sixtys the CIA released infected migratory birds with a harmless flu like deasease then studyed birds in russia to see if a pathogene could be deliverd to russia useing the birds ....50 years later all of a sudden the WHO gets real cagey bout a bird flue pandemic. This stuff happened its been deckclasified ....maybe their harmlesss flu grew balls and they were like "GULP"

  • Again, little focus on Israeli nuclear development and, with the recent announcement of their equipping their submarine with nuclear weapons, their blatant proliferation.

  • I find it telling that some commenters are aghast at Israel having"the bomb" but have not a care in the world that Pakistan or north Korea posses the bomb.
