"(Lesbian couple) Seattle residents Teresa Butz and her partner were in bed sleeping when Isaiah. M.K. Kalebu allegedly broke into their home (raped/molested them) and (then) stabbed both multiple times. The women escaped the house, while Kalebu ran away. A neighbor heard somebody screaming for help and ran outside. Butz died at the scene from her injuries. A neighbor said Butz told him the attacker said that if they did what he asked, he wouldn’t hurt them. Her last words: “He lied, he lied.”"

"Some truths to remember
Jessica Gonzales, trying to protect her three young children and herself from a violent estranged husband, obtained a restraining order, too. After the husband kidnapped the kids and murdered them, she sued the city, claiming that the restraining order gave her a special relationship with police. But whenever this issue is brought before the Supreme Court or other high courts, they have consistently ruled that police have no duty to protect a particular member of society, even if they have a restraining order.
Self-defense saves lives, and armed self-defense enables a woman to save multiple lives. Recently, one armed mom saved 5 lives by using a handgun.
Examination of the FBI Supplemental Homicide reports for the years 2000-2007 shows that over half of all women who successfully defended themselves from violent attackers used a firearm.
Considering that men average over 40 pounds more lean muscle mass than women, firearms provide a way to even the playing field. Samuel Colt, who invented the revolver, had this slogan: “God created men equal, Col. Colt made them equal.”
Ladies: Don’t limit your options, or your children’s future, because of an ideology or a fear."

A 17-year-old boy accused of killing a Ballard convenience-store clerk during a robbery last weekend is expected to face first-degree-murder charges Thursday — the same day he was scheduled to appear in court on unrelated robbery and assault charges stemming from a schoolyard attack.
Chief Juvenile Judge Philip Hubbard on Tuesday found probable cause to hold the suspect in custody pending the filing of charges in connection with the fatal shooting. Because of his age and the seriousness of the crime, the suspect will likely be charged as an adult in the slaying Sunday morning of Manish Melwani, 28, a clerk at the Pit Stop Express and 76 gas station.
At the end of Tuesday's hearing, Melwani's brother-in-law, Vinod Herkishnani, became enraged, called the suspect a "bastard" and said he should be hanged.
Herkishnani was led away by guards.
The suspect, a former member of the Ingraham High School track and field team, was arrested Monday afternoon at a home where he had been staying in the 900 block of Northwest 60th Street, not far from the convenience store where Melwani was shot.
Police were led to the boy after matching fingerprints found at the convenience store.
The arrest of the boy left family friend Walter Jones at a loss.
"You've got a kid trying to figure out if he's a man or not," Jones said. "His dad would give him money, more money than he could have stolen from that store." Jones and the suspect's father, a Boeing employee, became close friends when Jones had difficulties adjusting to his foster family when he was younger. The suspect's father was a basketball coach, and Jones now works as an outreach mentor and athletic trainer for at-risk youth.
The boy's father appeared at Tuesday's hearing, but could not be reached for comment.
According to an affidavit of probable cause, filed by prosecutors in their effort to have the boy remain in custody, the suspect shot Melwani during the robbery at 6:30 a.m. at the convenience store at 15th Avenue Northwest and Northwest 58th Street. A source close to the investigation said a surveillance camera caught the teen fumbling with the cash register while the clerk was reaching for something in a freezer away from the checkout area. When the clerk saw the teen trying to open the cash register, a struggle erupted and the clerk was shot.
The teen was already facing felony third-degree-assault and attempted-robbery charges in an unrelated case from last summer, according to juvenile-court documents. In that case, documents say, the boy and two other teens jumped a 14-year-old boy while they attending summer classes at Ballard High School. The three told the boy to empty his pockets and give them his cellphone before police came and the boy ran away, according to documents.
The boy later identified the suspect and two others after being shown three montages more than two weeks after the incident, court documents said. The case was scheduled for a hearing in juvenile court Thursday.

Jones described the teen as "just one of those talents that got away."
"He did horrific things — and nobody's excusing that," Jones said.
Jones said the accusations against the boy don't necessarily mean he is a hardened criminal or a generally violent person. He said the suspect's arrest so close to the store shows the boy didn't fully think through his actions, or their consequences. Jones said he never knew the boy to carry weapons.
Citing the incident at Ballard High, Jones said he and others asked the court and a probation officer to have the teen serve time in jail, then live with his father — a plan he felt would have put the suspect on a better track. "He just needed some structure," Jones said, adding the suspect was easily influenced by his friends at the time.
Jones said if a year ago the boy had been sentenced to six months, "we wouldn't be here today."
"Why does a kid commit such a crime, and they don't get sent to jail for a day?" Jones asked.
After he was charged in the Ballard High case, the boy had to decide which parent to live with, Jones said. He chose to live with his mother and later moved in with a girlfriend.
That, Jones said, is when he saw a drastic negative change in him.
Jones said he and the suspect's father visited the teen in the Youth Service Center on Monday.
"He's pretty shook up about it," Jones said. "They have him on suicide watch."
Jones said he had met Melwani, the clerk killed in the robbery, and the two had a friendly relationship, although they saw each other mainly in passing.
Melwani, of Lynnwood, was originally from Surat, India, and hoped to start a family soon.
