A Longs motorcycle driver died early Wednesday after he lost control and crashed while being chased by Horry County police, according to authorities.

Hartford Dwayne Holmes, 49, of Colonial Charters in Longs, was pronounced dead at 1 a.m. Wednesday from internal injuries while being treated in the emergency room of Loris Community Hospital, Horry County Coroner Robert Edge said. An autopsy was performed Wednesday morning and showed Holmes suffered massive trauma.

The crash is at least the second fatal motorcycle crash involving a police pursuit this year.
