Tonka™ type Toys for Big Boys

A Super Hi Lift Loader the LeTourneau L-2350 . it's only when you see ordinary things close up by this leviathan that you sense the enormous size of it - such as the semi tractor unit that doesn't even come up to the top of the giant radiator (06:00) or the seemingly toy like fork lift trucks and other vehicles it passes. I wonder how much a machine like this costs to purchase.

Amazingly it operates somewhat like a hybrid vehicle by storing energy when it's rolling or braking.

    • @Bud911 that is really quite something Bud', it's much better than this film. having him explain things and seeing the close-ups of the engine and electrics was great. cheers man. great link.

  • These things are ridiculous. They can almost high lift a CAT D10 crawler tractor in the bucket as far as weight goes. Being able to lift 72.5 metric tons in a loader is crazy.

  • That's the Las Vegas Convention Center. They are packing up to go after the MineExpo show last year. I stood in the bucket of that beast. It's even bigger than it looks, and it was far from the biggest machine there.

Mining equipment (the stuff that makes the stuff that makes up the stuff you buy from China) is amazing.

  • This is a video of mine taken from my Youtube channel "chris maginnis" without my permission. It is one of a number of videos of this machine and others that are bigger.

  • That was taken at this years Minexpo in Las Vegas. The Caterpillar budget for this tradeshow was reportedly 65 million with 24 million spent on just the movement of equipment for the show. This and many of the large pieces would take 6-8 weeks to set up in the parking lot at LV in the trade show for the 4 days .... back out to be disassembled. Bigger is better in open pit mining. Only thing that matters is cost per ton per km.

    • @darthnilus interesting stuff, never thought they'd take that long to set up but I suppose for a show like that they wanted them in A1 condition throughout.

a great film, it was taken by Mr Chris Maginnis.

    • @jfm8561

it says in the link that the sr converter cooler holds 40+ galons.
so either the motor itself is cooled or the drive linkage to
      the motor is cooled idk

    • @carpeleak2. it has a lift capacity of a staggering 60 tons! Bud911 left a link to a better and shorter vid with a guy who knows everything about the loaders (he's from the manufacturers) giving details and explanations about it all, it's well worth a look.
