Always amazes me how much damage these planes could sustain and still remain flying. Bet our modern jets couldn't sustain half the damage and still fly.

@Anonyville The A-10 can also take a ridiculous amount of damage. Probably more than these WWII planes. It was designed from the ground up to take fire. I believe it has triple redundant hydraulic systems. I've also read it was designed to be able to fly with 1/3 of a wing missing.

Superb compilation - awesome amount of damage to many of those aircraft ... no doubt many aircrew didn't make it even though their plane made it home.
Anybody know what the aircraft at 3min 16 sec was?
