After Twenty Years of Candace Derksens Murder Been Unsolved,Winnipeg Police are expected to announce this afternoon they have solved the 1984 murder of Candace Derksen...Mark Edward Grant Has Been Charged With The Candace Derksen Murder.
The 13-year-old Derksen disappeared while walking home from school in November, 1984.
Officers have worked this case on and off for over twenty years.
There were several tips, but it was a new type of DNA testing that broke the case.
Sources Say News investigators took the DNA sample outside the country for testing, and finally got a match.
Derksen was a grade seven student at Mennonite Brethren Collegiate, last seen walking home from school on November 30th, 1984.
Her body was found seven weeks later in an unused machinery shed on Cole Avenue.
