The federal Ministry of Public Safety (SSP) reported the capture of eight suspected members of the Beltran Leyva cartel in the port of Acapulco.

In a communique, the agency noted that the detainees allegedly were working under orders from Edgar Valdez Villareal, aka "La Barbie," a deputy chief of the criminal organization's assassins.

Derivative works that detailed "intelligence", elements of the Federal Police were aware that in the nightclub "XXXOTICAS BAR" located in Aguas Blancas number 6 of the German Cologne Miguel worked several armed individuals.

Among those captured was Sergio Castillo Diaz de Leon, 46, deputy manager of the bar and who reports directly to Edgar Valdez Villareal.

The others arrested were: Pedro Moreno Valdez, 31; Francisco Cardenas Serrano, 50, Joel Campos Alberto Estrada, 22; Jorge Aguirre Jesus Carbajal, 21, Antonio Jesús López Miranda, 24 years, Mario Rios Galeana, 55, and a 16 year old minor.

Secured in place: four AK-47 assault rifles, a .45 Smith & Wesson revolver, seven radio communication equipments, three doses of cocaine, a fragmentation grenade, several cartridges and magazines, a radio walkie-talkie, four cell phones and documentation.

Intelligence reports suggest that Edgar Valdez Villareal, aka "La Barbie" operates mainly in the State of Mexico, Guerrero, Morelos, Nuevo Leon and Mexico City.

The capture was the result of the arrest last week in Nuevo Leon Rodolfo Lopez Ibarra aka "El Nito", operator of the organization who had been designated as chief of the Nuevo Leon territory.
