makes you wonder what else was buried near by. After-all, sites like this didn't exist in a vacuum. The builders would have needed places to stay and with a site this complex, there must have been a lot of them.
One side comment, if this were a nuclear was storage site, the radioactive material would only have recently become inert.

well it depends on which radioactive material it is. but you are so right about associated sites.
there were quite large villages around the pyramids during the constuction.
in the past everyday houses were not given as much attn as they deserved. i've read in many account that this or that worship site was built in the middle of nowhere and ppl came from elsewhere for cermonies. makes more sense that they lived down the street.
huge buildings are more permanant and kind of sa More..

Interesting stuff.

They didn't have LiveLeak at that time, so out of boredom they built those temples and, when they were finished, they buried them under 1000 tons of sand.

Unfortunatley noshoes prepare for the mods to delete because of copyright infringments. I tried loading all the Ancient Astronaut series and they deleted them... :(

it's really exciting that old things are still being discoved. some guy in england found anglo-saxon gold cache, in mexico 1300 year old mayan sculptures found and in egypt new statues of pharaohs.
when i was a kid i was facinated with old objects newly found. i worried tho that all the good stuff was already known.
glad i was wrong.
oh, and treasure yet to be found. sunken ships in the caribbean and mediterranean waters. romans moved a lot of treasure back and forth to egypt, some of it is More..

It's strange how these sites of 'the birth of civilisation' have come full circle, and are now some of the world's most backwards places.
Just sayin'.

12,000 years ago might seem like a long time, but it is only 120 centuries. No apparent script. However, when they drag in an Atlantis author as an authority, I become suspicious about the story.
