  • When uranus doesn't move as expected that is a shart.

  • You can tell how scientific this is, since it is still calling Pluto one of the planets. (It's now one of a dozen other plutoid dwarf planets.)

    • @joe prole. And you base that on what? Just because Neil Tyson wanted to make a name for himself by disavowing Pluto as a planet does not mean that it is not. It still orbits the sun and has its own moon and does not orbit some other planet. In my book that is a planet. In fact in the definition.of planets that is still a planet. Until Tyson changed the definitely.Orion to suit his celebrity play that is. Not saying Tyson isn't smart. But I don't agree with his assessment or the way it was done. More..

Asteroids orbit the sun, have moons, and don't orbit a planet. Shall we call these planets, too?

  • If a planet entered our Solar System, we here on Earth would fill the change!

  • I love it when science finally has to accept the veracity of "myths" that are thousands of years old. Nibiru was first described in ancient Sumerian, such as the Enuma Elish, texts over 5,000 years ago.

The real point of my comment has nothing to do with what the object was called. The fact remains that a rogue planet with a very eccentric orbit was described in the Enuma Elish and other ancient texts.

I just think it's funny that, once again, science is having to accept the possibility (if not probability) of there being some truth to myths which they once scoffed at as the childish imaginings of superstitious, stone-age cultures.

Keep in mind that the "Illiad" was More..

However flawed their understanding of our solar system may have been... the fact remains that the notion of a tenth planet was first posited thousands of years ago by the ancient Sumerians in their creation mythology.

Also, there are multiple examples of ancient cuneiform tablets that depict the planets orbiting around the sun..... complete with a tenth planet.

So, in addition to their claim that there is a tenth planet, there is also at least some suggestion that they were awar More..

    • @mcgeemcgoo the newspapers you can find in google archive, i thought washington post and the rest are serious newspapers, but perhaps not. my opinion: in 1983 the press was not so manipulated like today

  • I wonder how much of what mankind knows about space today is going to be considered outlandish and pure poppycock a hundred years from now?

  • The retard is strong with this video. May the 'tard be with them!

    • @Tommyr. The fool is strong in your comment. This video purports nothing except that there is evidence that something was found and then no mention of it was made again for a long time. Evidence is presented but no conclusion is put forth. So it is you who must be retarded if you can't see that.

    • @Neo There has been so much hype about this its hard to distinguish genuine curiosity with pure bs sometimes although I saw this as objective.
Discovery had a doco Universe (or something it was called) where they saw a pattern in mass extinctions which supported the theory of a long orbit planet or sun. In fact suns by themselves are fairly rare mist are binary. It was very interesting worth the watch for sure. :)

  • 00:27--The object is supposed to be "no more than 40 degrees [Kelvin]" and also is supposed to be a 'brown dwarf'.

Brown dwarfs may be less than blazing as stars go, but they're still balls of hot gas, not -429〫F frigging ice cubes.

    • @cleetusawreetus. While I have never taken a brown dwarfs temperature, I would expect it would be about 98.4°f depending upon health of course.

  • Nibiru sounds like some gay bar on south beach. If you're going to come up with an imaginary planet, at least name it something cool.

  • If the thing was coming in 2012 we would see it by now - unless its gravity is so intense even light cannot escape.....

    Posted Jun-8-2012 By

    • @Zippity if it's gravity is that strong its not a planet or star it's a black hole which is still easily detectable by the material around it.

  • Just the littlest amount of logic applied would tell you if there was a planet on a massive elongated orbit coming toward Earth it would be visible to all our astronomers for years and years and years before it actually got here.
I'm not saying its impossible, it's just we will have 10+ years notice.
