Russia Begins Large-Scale Caucasus 2012 Military Exercises

Russia started the Caucasus 2012 military exercises at its southern borders on 17th September 2012.
About 8,000 soldiers, more than 200 pieces of
military equipment, about 100 artillery units and 10 military ships are involved in the excercises.
Tbilisi has expressed its concern about the drills on numerous
occasions. Both Georgian and Russian military experts have said that the
Caucasus 2012 exercises may serve as a pretext for another Russian
intervention into Georgia.
