Alex Rawlings, a 20-year-old student, is fluent in 11 languages !
Alex Rawlings, a 20-year-old student at Oxford University, has won a search to identify the most multilingual student in the U.K.
Publisher Harper Collins bestowed the title on Rawlings as part of a nationwide search they launched last June in promotion of their new language and learning courses, according to the company's website.
Rawlings showcased his fluency or near-fluency in 11 languages including English, Greek, German, Spanish, Russian, Dutch, Afrikaans, French, Hebrew, Catalan and Italian.

11?
I have met a few girls in Europe who could speak 6.
They all had jobs with tourism as you might expect.
They were all paid quite a bit.
11 is outstanding.

I've been trying to learn French for about ten years now, its a real bastard. Anyone who can speak eleven languages fluently is a genius in my book.

I've met quite a few people that are fluent in 5+ languages, it's a global trend now I suppose.
Personally, I speak 4 and read a few a more, out of need tho.

My girlfriend speaks French, German, Italian, Spanish, Polish, Russian, Mandarin and maybe some really bad English. Her sister speaks French, German, Italian, Japanese, Cantonese and another version of awful English. Together, I've got quite the world translation guide when I travel. Mind you, a bunch of translation books cost a shitload less than these two and they wouldn't stray into every clothing store and shoe shop that they see.

The best way to learn a language is to travel. And if you don't have the money to travel, you can just watch foreign movies and TV shows, just to get your ears used to the new language.
