@LBJFRWY
Yep. This was so "cutting edge" at the time. Music videos were all about who could act the weirdest back then.

I was too locked into my long-haired, stoner, rock & roll identity back then to really appreciate new wave music like Devo, The Tubes and Talking Heads at first. But as soon as big-hair Glam Rock took over the scene I was happy to move on, discover some new music and expand my horizons. I think hearing Devo's "Working in a coal mine" on the Heavy Metal soundtrack helped me make the transition.

"Working on a coal mine" is epic. I've been following these idiots since "We are Devo", Jockahomo or whatever it's called.
They actually know how to play their instruments unlike most modern bands and have fun doing it.
I don't have a Devo recording but attend their concerts whenever I can.

@EventHorizon2012 I agree.
I was a rock snob playing in rock bands and hated these guys.
It wasn't until years later I appreciated them.
And this is exactly the kind of video the mods would reject from me.

@k57 "Am I Gen X? I'm 48 "
I guess not, but just barely. If your father served in WW2 you're a baby boomer. If your grandfather served in WW2 you're a Gen X, usually born between early 1960's to early 1980's. Everything after that is Generation eXcrement.
Anyhow, I remember Great Space Coaster everyday just before school... 1982-84.
Cheers!

Well shit.
I was hoping for a new label. I'll stick with "HEY THERE GOES THAT GUY MY MOM WANTS TO SLEEP WITH"... doesn't roll off the tongue as easily, but you take what the good Lord gives you.

The lack of midgets severely limits the artistic value of the piece. Of course, everybody wants midgets in their videos, but only a select few have the class to make it happen. This was not classy. 4.6
