Who is Roy Antigua? Tampa cops seek help tracking down serial imposter’s past after finding stash of fake IDs, uniformsWhat was this Florida man doing with a NASA flight suit, military uniforms, a CIA badge and a troubling picture of himself wearing doctor’s scrubs while holding a newborn baby?Comments (5)BY RHEANA MURRAY / NEW YORK DAILY NEWSTUESDAY, AUGUST 7, 2012, 10:10 AMFlorida police are stumped by a mystery man’s incredible collection of fake law enforcement, military and medical IDs, badges and uniforms.
Authorities uncovered the imposter’s stash — which even includes a full NASA flight suit and helmet — at the home of Roy Antigua, after the 52-year-old man was arrested last week, The Tampa Bay Times reports.
“We need to know, from start to finish — who is Roy Antigua?” New Port Richey Police Chief James Steffens said at a news conference Monday, standing next to a table covered with the man’s fraudulent credentials.
Antigua was arrested Aug. 1 after police pulled him over for a traffic stop and found him driving without a license and in violation of parole.
At the police station, an officer noticed Antigua’s military ID looked fake, prompting the investigation.
Steffens recognized Antigua from a Memorial Day event they both had attended at a cemetery just two months earlier. Antigua approached Steffens, introduced himself as Lt. Cmdr. Roy Antigua, and took a seat next to the police chief in a section reserved for officials, according to the newspaper.
“Everybody around here thought that he was the real deal,” Steffens said.
Police say they don’t know why Antigua had so many disguises, and aren’t sure if he’s dangerous.
“Is he really a threat or is he someone who is living a very involved fantasy life?” Steffens asked at the news conference.
At Antigua’s home, police uncovered ammunition for semiautomatic guns and assault rifles, but no actual weapons.
Authorities also found uniforms for the U.S. Customs, Navy, CIA, Secret Service and Homeland Security. There was a hoard of military medals and medical supplies, including scrubs and a doctor’s bag full of supplies. There was a card identifying Antigua as a physician’s assistant and a worrisome photo of him wearing scrubs and holding a newborn baby.
Antigua has a Coast Guard license plate and a Department of Homeland Security registration sticker on his black Cadillac Escalade, which has blue flashing lights, according to the newspaper.
Steffens said Antigua admitted to owning the collection of fakes and is “remorseful.”
“He said this was something that got out of hand,” he said.
At the press conference, Steffens noted that one item on the table wasn’t fake — an ID card identifying Antigua as a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary in Miami, a volunteer unit.
Antigua was kicked out of the unit in 2011 after he was arrested on a grand theft charge, the newspaper reported.
Detectives are seeking the public’s help to learn the extent of Antigua’s impersonations, and are working with the military, law enforcement agencies and hospitals to find out if he had any interaction with them.
“You don’t have this collection just to keep it in your house and look in the mirror,” Steffens told The Tampa Bay Times.
Antigua is being held at the Pasco County Jail, without bail.

What sickens me is that the Supreme court can find the health care mandate constitutional, but the Stolen Valor act isn't.

Where and how did he make his living? That shit is not cheap.
Good luck on the Stolen Valor Act, or military impersonation now. Maybe they can get him on police or law enforcement charges.

His charges are driving on suspended license and probation violation (ammo would do it), but no charges so far on other stuff that the media has been hyping for a week now.

Sure, let’s arrest people for playing dress-up and charge them for fantasized crimes that only exist in the head of a novice police detective. WTF is wrong with our society, how did we become so pitiful?

Actually it's pretty cool to have such a collection I cant see why it is unimaginable they are for collection only. Unfortunately, his impersonation at the memorial day event crossed the line..

Did he have any presidental credentials in that stuff. Whoever is there now has got to be a fraud. It will be interesting if Obama can't be found now that this imposter has been arrested.
