With only ten full weeks to go, and hundreds of millions of dollars spent on campaign attack ads,, the Presidential election is rapidly approaching here in the States.
What's the general belief by all of us not inflicted with partisan blindness?? The timeless expression of ''we're screwed'' seems to sum it up greatly for the masses.
My personal recollections of past elections goes back 20 years to when Bill Clinton won in 1992.
Being in the heart of the hood, i saw countless adults happy with the results due to the fact that a Democrat won and in our world they were supposed to represent our only hopes in office.
I drank that Kool-Aid for the better part of the following sixteen years.
Now i don't want anyone who still worships Obama reading this to exit stage right believing this will somehow snowball into a 'why we should vote Republican' speech,, that's completely not the point of this at all.
Instead, my focus is what the most internationally watched election on the planet has turned into....a clown car with no brakes and a cliff just ahead
While attack ads and big money have always been part of the election game, never at any point can i remember having such incompetent candidates to choose from.
There always was dirt on the candidates that would get dug up during a campaign, but they still seemed to be far more qualified to run the most powerful and influential nation in the world than the two bozos we have as options.
Obama couldn't have made it easier for the GOP to make him a one term candidate, but yet here he is looking like a second term is just weeks away.
And while few independents will be going out to support Obama again after four years of broken promises and lost hope, Mitt Romney has done everything in his power to make sure that those would-be voters won't be going to the polls at all this year as he continues a campaign that resembles an episode of Mr.Bean a lot more than a man trying to get elected.
Candidates are supposed to at least appear to be open and transparent while running for office.
Obama did a great job of such back in '08 and the combination of a fresh, young face and a positive message of <em>'change'</em> and transparency led independents to flock to him as a potential polar opposite to what's become the status quo in Washington.
It was all clearly b/s halfway thru his first year in office,, but he was already in office.
Romney can't even get the deception of the public part right.
Instead of taking the shots thrown at him by the Dems head on, he chooses to avoid the issues as much as possible.
The public knows he's filthy rich, and we also know that most people who are filthy rich know how avoid paying big taxes,, so he could've done a lot of damage control by simply saying ''F%ck it, i only paid 13% and use offshore accounts to hide money''
It wouldn't have cause a favorable spike in his ratings that week, but if he could've conveyed an actual message of hope for the future of America shortly after weathering that storm he'd be in a lot better shape than he is now.
Romney's plan has simply been to hope the public is sick of Obama. And while many people are, what urgency does he give to us to go vote for him??
Beating a seated President is never easy, as a seemingly hated by everyone George W. Bush showed back in '04,, but you don't expect the rival party to basically send champagne to him for his re-election celebration a couple of months early.
I'm never one to rush time because tomorrow's never promised, and in 4 years i'll be closer to 40 than 30 lol,, but i have to say that the 2016 election season is already looking a lot more professional than what we're witnessing today.
Thanks 4 reading......Luke

The money in US politics is insane...I really don't see how you can call it Representative Democracy when the key figure that concerns both the media and the parties themselves is their funding level...
Most other developed Democracies have strict caps on funding limits...which helps keeps things focused on the issues and what the candidates are saying rather than endless ads trying to slur them

How about the two year media and advertising circus that constitutes a presidential campaign? Most countries can elect a government in months (or weeks) - but the US needs a year or more so the advertising industry can earn its megabucks in the process.
And why in the heck are primary elections (intended only to allow the parties to select candidates) funded and supported by the taxpayers? If you aren't a supporter of one of the two parties you can't even vote in a primary More..

I have met quite a few americans in the past month or so and have asked them about Obama vs. Mit and almost all of them have said Obama is going to win because Mit would be a really bad choice. Some have said that they cant believe mit was the one chosen by his party to run against Obama because he is so bad..
And im just reporting what they have said, so dont bother thinking this is my personal opinion..

Actually, Romney might have (or may) made a decent POTUS. But he bent way,
way too far over for those batshit billionaires, by taking Ryan as a running mate. WE DON'T CARE ABOUT THE SOCIAL ISSUES. We just want decent leadership, in some harsh times.

The US quit electing *leaders* decades ago. We now elect *politicians* instead.

The election has been handed over to the richest backers - the American voter is virtually not involved. You can thank the Supreme Court for declaring that "corporations are people"! Their decision has allowed men like Adelson to simply "Buy a President"!
If the GOP had guts, they would have put Ron Paul up - he was the real competitor for Obama. Mitt is virtually a clone of Obama!

By the way, where was Mitt Romney's Bain Capital money when the U.S. financial system was going belly up? Was it wired out to China, India, Russia and offshore tax havens? Where was Mitt Romney's Bain Capital and capital investors money when people were evicted from their homes and taking their own lives inside their homes that they lived in for their entire life? Where was Mitt Romeny's campaign money of $120 million when people were taking their own lives in their homes because they did not More..

''F%ck it, i only paid 13% and use offshore accounts to hide money''
I dunno about the second part but he did say he only paid 13%. Where do you think that information was gotten? Not off his tax returns, he still has those. So who else could possibly say that but him?

I like the republicans plans of giving longer hours and more voting machines in heavily republican counties and shortening the voting time and fewer voting machines in heavily democratic counties. It's fucking genius.
