  • I'm sorry to learn of your loss. Life is precious.

Props to you for opening up and sharing your heart in an environment that can be pretty harsh, to say the least.

All the best to you as you carry on.

  • RIP, Albie.

My father used to say that the lousiest thing about getting old was outliving everybody he knew.

  • I hate being reminded of my own mortality. 20yrs ago I was 10 feet tall and bullet proof. Now every new ache or pain I think I got the fucking cancer or something. What really bothers me is seeing my dad get old. He'll be 74 this year. Was a time I thought the old man would live forever. Now he's getting a little stooped and fragile and I realize I won't have him forever.

    Sucks.

  • sad stuff that sloop, without doubt the Dementia/Alzheimers disease is a brutal one. My mate Dermot, who lives about 100mtrs away had a massive stroke about two months ago, he's lost the ability to speak and can only follow one-step commands, he's now off to a long-term rehabilitation centre for the next few months or even longer, he's only in his late 40's. it's frightening how quick these things go once initiated. The memory one is particularly cruel though.

  • Sorry for your loss Sloop. Just recently had another funeral here too. The old guard of the family is fading, all in their 80's now.
You are absolutely right about the young folks not seeing this coming. Before they know it another 20 years will slip behind them and they'll wonder where the fuck it went.
Funny how life seems to speed up as we age. Time is such an empty vapor.
