I love Guinea pigs! I used to breed them. I can tell you from experience they prefer the green skin of the watermelon over the pink flesh. They are very delightful pets for the kids. Very tame once you give them attention and they never bite. Their little poos are easy to pick up and I don't recall any of my G-pigs ever pissing on me.

They are also a delicacy in the Andes but I prefer rabbit meat. I used to own rabbits but one of them bit me one day and I ate it later that night. Rodent meat tastes best when you feed them green colored veggies and fruit.

Oven roasted guinea pig CUY (pronounced KOOY) is a delicacy, I've tried it several times and I liked a lot, tastes gamey, red meat and similar in consistency to quail. Is one of the most exotic dishes in CUZCO-PERU.
