Starting up a Tiger Tank the Old-fashioned Way

The Bovington Tank Museum in the UK has the only running Tiger tank left in the world, and the restored inertia starter was used for the first time since WW2 to crank up the tank. The tank is brought out for maneuvers during the bi-annual Tankfest at the museum grounds and will be featured this coming March.

  • When he brought out the cranking handle i thought-you're having a laugh! The explanation with the gearing is so typically good German engineering and works flawlessly though.
