So, Seriously, How Did Harry Reid Get So Rich?

This isn’t another tongue-in-cheek post about Sen. Harry Reid’s baseless allegation against Mitt Romney. It’s a serious question: Just how did Sen. Reid get so rich?

As a senator and the majority leader in the Senate, Reid pulls down a salary of $193,400 per year. According to the latest data from Opensecrets.org, which is from 2010, Reid has assets totalling $10,360,000.

How does this happen? And seriously, why hasn’t he released his tax returns?

Did Harry Reid take advantage of the insider trading knowledge that was only available to members of Congress, but not legally available to the rest of us? Is that what he did? He certainly has a number of large index funds among his assets, while 80% of his money is in real estate investments.

  • Since we are embroiled in all this BS about Tax returns,

I think we need to add a new government publication that is sent to every taxpayer each year that includes,

Every fucking page of every fucking tax return for every fucking member of Congress and every fucking other elected or appointed official in Washington.

    Then they'll STFU.

    • @aussite Fuck that, I've had the long held belief that the feet of "public servants" should be held to the fire, and take a vow of poverty.

    • @ChumCannon I just can't thin of anything else to get their attention at this point.

I think that if they had to reveal all their money grubbing that it would be a very good way to hold their feet to the fire.

  • This is very simple, we need to stop thinking so hard about this. Liberals have no moral foundation. The ends do justify the means in their mind. There is no arguing this point or with them. They simply must be defeated.

    • @bigair He is one of the heads of the hydra. If he says something liberals listen, it does not have to be true, all he has to do is speak it and it becomes fact. True fools.

  • He did that shady land deal 5 or 6 years ago where he rezoned a federally protected chunk of land on the outskirts of Las Vegas so it could be developed. His son worked for the law firm that represented the developer.
Pretty safe to say he cashed in big time on that one.

  • For one thing, he was head of the Nevada gaming commission or whatever it's called.

  • 'How did he get so rich?'

The land deal in Vegas, and probably taking advantage of insider trading information.

  • Important things to note.

1.) ALL Senate and Congressional elected must legally supply a copy of their taxes for peer review. The public is not privy to them, but I doubt that the Republicans would let something suspicious slide.

2.) Unless you're talking about "bribes", backdoor pay-offs or some kind of money-for-votes claim (which no one can effectively rebuff), Reid's taxes are part of the Congressional record. If you're including all of these as reported income, then the argument More..
