Ricocheting .223 from a Bushmaster comes back to Bite
I don't know where this is or who these guys are, but they got alot of guns.
From what i can gather.. some dude is plinking at homemade metal gallery targets when the last one comes back at him.. evidently only slightly breaking the skin. The dude doesn't seem to flinch much.. i have had a couple come back at me and jumped like i was stung by a bee. They look for the slug at the end i guess.
More..Enjoy, discuss, tell me how wrong i am in my description. LoL Less..

The round splinters into a bunch of little pieces after it hits its target. Them trying to find even a whole 5.56mm round in all that grass is silly.

I think it was a piece of hot brass. Left-handed shooters often get burned by round casings. Seeing as how lefties are "sinister" they deserve it.

Yea right. They look for one casing out of hundreds on the ground. That's not a wound from a casing. Unbelievable..

He did fine. Good muzzle discipline the whole time. Finger off the trigger until he was ready to fire. He didn't freak out and start waving the weapon around when he gets hit.
And that was not from hot brass.

Have you ever fired a weapon? OK, that's unfair, you probably have. Have you ever seen an entry wound from a round? Apparently you haven't, that wound was a PENETRATING wound and I hope they got this guy to a hospital quick!
I have been hit by hot brass as you so eloquently refer to it, it does NOT penetrate and rarely pierces clothing.
It pains me, but I MUST agree with Reap's assessment, UNBELIEVABLE! (Your comments and ignorance of the subject matter).

Agreed, he kept the weapon pointed downrange while it was in battery, and seems to be an exceptional shot as well.
Also when he noticed he was hit he didn't panic and do the Flustered Flinstone waving the weapon all over the place. Notice at the beginning he was mindful of the cameraman's position and directed him out of harm's way before he let a round loose?
You sound like you may have been, or maybe are, an RSO!!

I think it very well could have been a puncture wound.. the guy's buddy was trying to see how deep it was, and if it was going to bleed, and they're hoping beyond hope to find the round on the ground so they don't have to go get it checked out at the hospital.

Correct! That wasn't a burn. Besides, as you well know, if a hot one goes down your shirt you start jumping around like a frog in a sizzling skillet and you start groping and slapping yourself as if you sat on a nest of fire ants. He caught a frag, fer sure.

That not a burn that's a hole. I bet money he is carrying that piece of metal around in him to this day.

Exactly Buck. I have seen incredible bounce backs. Action/reaction. One NCO was nearly fatally injured when the shipping plug in the base of a 57mm RR round was trajectoried straight back and hit him in the throat. If there hadn't been a helo in the air and vicinity to medevac him he would have completely bled out. Serious loss of blood. Weapons firing is always a serious activity. Please wear safety glasses.
