Ricocheting .223 from a Bushmaster comes back to Bite

I don't know where this is or who these guys are, but they got alot of guns.
From what i can gather.. some dude is plinking at homemade metal gallery targets when the last one comes back at him.. evidently only slightly breaking the skin. The dude doesn't seem to flinch much.. i have had a couple come back at me and jumped like i was stung by a bee. They look for the slug at the end i guess.

Enjoy, discuss, tell me how wrong i am in my description. LoL

  • He did fine. Good muzzle discipline the whole time. Finger off the trigger until he was ready to fire. He didn't freak out and start waving the weapon around when he gets hit.

And that was not from hot brass.

    • Actually, I have seen a hand torn up by a cooked-off 5.56 round. I was just postulating another possibility.
Given you're condesending tone in many of your comments directed at me, I'm guessing that you have an attitude problem.

    • Try avoiding ad hominems, arguments are more convincing without logical fallacies.

    • I didnt like it.

Shouldnt be dropping the barrel like that after every shot. Bad follow through.

  • The round splinters into a bunch of little pieces after it hits its target. Them trying to find even a whole 5.56mm round in all that grass is silly.

  • He's got grit. Never even flinched. I tip my hat to him. But I think we should all thank God that his Glock wasn't damaged. :)

    • I say the same! BTW maybe you can advise me. I wanted to setup some hardened steel disk to shoot at with my .223. If I have them hanging from chains and defecting downward by about 15 degrees would that make me safer? I hear you should always be 100 or more yards out.

    • Wouldnt hanging from chains make it difficult to do quick series and so on? Targets swinging around and messing it all up after the first shot? Just a thought.

  • Should always wear some kind of safety glasses when range shooting and this is one primary reason why. Imagine if that were his eye (fuck!).

Also, are these guys Hmong? I am not sure of the language but when I used to live in the city and could not shoot right off my back deck like I can now in the mountains, I noticed a shit-ton of Hmong at the gun ranges almost every time I went.

  • Note to self: Stop yelling epithets at "pussy scooter riders". Especially if they've got a bunch of cases strapped on the back.

  • I think it was a piece of hot brass. Left-handed shooters often get burned by round casings. Seeing as how lefties are "sinister" they deserve it.

    • Yea right. They look for one casing out of hundreds on the ground. That's not a wound from a casing. Unbelievable..

    • I think it very well could have been a puncture wound.. the guy's buddy was trying to see how deep it was, and if it was going to bleed, and they're hoping beyond hope to find the round on the ground so they don't have to go get it checked out at the hospital.

    • Correct! That wasn't a burn. Besides, as you well know, if a hot one goes down your shirt you start jumping around like a frog in a sizzling skillet and you start groping and slapping yourself as if you sat on a nest of fire ants. He caught a frag, fer sure.

  • Exactly Buck. I have seen incredible bounce backs. Action/reaction. One NCO was nearly fatally injured when the shipping plug in the base of a 57mm RR round was trajectoried straight back and hit him in the throat. If there hadn't been a helo in the air and vicinity to medevac him he would have completely bled out. Serious loss of blood. Weapons firing is always a serious activity. Please wear safety glasses.

  • Awful short barrel, if it's in the U.S. he better have a Class III.

    Barely flinched, nice.

  • 223 sucks at close range even with frangible rounds, they usually pass right through the target. I agree with VZ58 about safety glasses, they are a must when shooting. I will never trust a piece of metal(gun) to protect me from an explosion taking place inches from my face. Rounds explode in the chamber more often than you think.

  • Damn mexicans are probably reading up to rape your moms at gunpoint. Deport them all and make the blacks work in the fields, kitchens and all the other jobs worthless mexicans do. Republican and proud, George Bush is the best president we have ever had, he is just like one of us.
