I understood the milk and sugar thing to be an Irish trait for tea. When I was in Ireland in 1978 they told me it "was the Irish way" to drink it.

Nope, I think they were pulling your leg. In the UK we drink tea with milk/cream and/or sugar.
The english have been drinking tea since the mid 1600's

You never said what brand it was. We UK'ers are very snobbish when it comes to brand. You're classed as nobility in the tea ring if you consume PG Tips or Typhoo and a peasant if you sup own brand varieties; If you drink green tea or earl grey, you're just classed as a nutter. These things are important! ;)

@ARNOLD-R-LANE Bloody peasants! LoL
btw has anyone noticed that Walmart have stealthily enlarged the area given over to groceries? Might just be my devious nature, but I think they're cashing in on the price of food to cover the loss in their other departments.

did they give you a bad time over that.??
They must be hungry.
Nice John, real good video.
Sometimes we think we know history, but its always nice to see history from different perspectives. In america they see an influx of scottish and Irish people.
They called them the black Irish and still do.
To leave your land and travel takes alot of guts and confidence. All immigrants have buckets of it.
PEace to you

My people are mostly German; but also English and Scots (or Scotch) -Irish.
I had one ancestor who came from Cork (in southern Ireland) but was Presbyterian and had a Scottish name. He married a German Catholic girl in St. Louis. He promised her the kids would be raised Catholic. She died giving birth and he kept the promise even though he continued attending the Presbyterian church himself. I mention this not to make a big deal of religious issues. But I think it illustrates a willi More..
