  • to believe that there is an all knowing being watching your every move and who judges you upon death...well, you must not be living in the same world I am, which is of course the real world.

    • @mcdrew77 Hi I am here with you in the real world.

      I still believe in God.

    • @DemocratWithDerringer

I cannot conceive of a God who rewards and punishes his creatures, or has a will of the type of which we are conscious in ourselves. An individual who should survive his physical death is also beyond my comprehension, nor do I wish it otherwise; such notions are for the fears or absurd egoism of feeble souls. Enough for me the mystery of the eternity of life, and the inkling of the marvellous structure of reality, together with the single-hearted endeavour to comprehend More..

  • One man hears voices and its called Insanity
Many people hear voices and its called Religion

The most pointless argument in the history of mankind is the one that can only be answered when you are dead.

  • Excellent post, after watching this I looked up Mithra after Sephen Fry spoke about him.

Very interesting, born 600 years before Jesus era, he had 12 desciples and rose from the dead after being buried for 3 days in a tomb.

Either the christians stole some ideas to make up a nifty best selling book, or there are a lot of people following the wrong geezer.

  • Stephen Fry is awesome.
You see the show with the dude in UK who drives to work with different people? can't remember what it's called. Saw it on LL, I think, with him going into London.

  • Now faith is the substance of things hoped for,
the evidence of things not seen.

  • Only half way... no three quarters of the way through... done.

But I agree with Fry almost entirely,

    until the end.
    I still believe in God.

    • @DemocratWithDerringer That is your choice.
As long as you don't start making vids of why I should believe in your version of gawd, I have no problems with it.
If that is your plan, you might as well block me now ;o)

    • @Tongueboy I dunno?

I suppse if they were as funny as Penn and Teller or Fry and Laurie I might post some pro religious videos?

But with material provided by Kirk Cameron? well I find it laughable, but noone else probably would? Some great gospel music out there? maybe I will post some of that.

See now your going to make me stop being just a commenter and actually gasp post something.

(Yeah right. When hell freezes over perhaps?)

  • I don't know about you, but when I have an existential problem and need advice about the meaning of life, I turn to cynical English actors.
They are ever so much wiser than ordinary humans, and never are troubled by self-doubt or humility.
After all, those trained to pretend to be others, to exhibit any emotion on cue, and to convincingly utter any words written by others are more sincere, aren't they?

    • @govett Is that your version of refuting ANY of his points?

      Your xenophobia is tasteless, BTW.

      Thanks.

    • @govett Well THAT is a stupid thing to do. I prefer instead to pay attention to people who clearly have an extraordinary intellect and capacity for critical thinking. Sometimes they are one in the same however.

But pray tell, who DO you turn to for your existential problem solving? A religious figure determined that his or her religion is THE true religion with THE true god, to the ABSOLUTE exclusion of all others no matter what? Do you REALLY need to talk to THEM to know the answer they will g More..

    • @Malleus Maleficarum Tasteless? It tastes like bitter almonds, to me.

    • @gregsto I turn to nobody for existential answers because none exist, other than those we fabricate to make our predicament semitolerable.
