  • the most terrifying experience, to be near this flow and volume of water ...

No, not really. When it is properly controlled massive flows are really cool to be near, the ground sorta vibrates.
      When out of control....definitely terrifying!

    • @mytwocents ahh but the challenge of being within it ... hard for me to not imagine the uncontrolled version, even as I know it's controlled ...

  • This is common here in New Zealand that is not what you'd call flooding they are designed that way. Some parts of the country get an average of 276 inches (over 23 feet) of rain a year..pure clean natural rain..that's gold of the future right there

    • @tizeye Not trying to be a dick. But the way we are ruining this earth, its probly not as clean as we would like.

    • @landryde1 for sure and we don't help either with intensive farming practices..but it's still a damn sight better quality than they have in some Countries. But never the less it is still water and it just keeps recirculating over and over again..I predict that one day we will ship our water to Australia

    • @tizeye Fuck the auzzies they have enuf desalination plants to keep them going. we should just sell it top dollar to the highest bidder if anything

  • regardless how logical and constrained I think myself to be, the sound, the movement, the magnitude of this sort of big water is viscerally terrifying

  • There better be a big fucking turbine at the bottom of that to harness that sexy natural energy! : )

    • @Ste_0 We do harnes geothermal electricty in huntly. but no all they do is stop the dam overflowing when it really rains alot. most of the time water is not flowing down the tube so theres no point in building a generator at the bottom

    • @FukyoCouch so no sexy energy is being harnessed? I disprove.

  • All you need is a raft and the day is saved!

    • @BrorGertrud
I was thinking tyre tube or body board, but a raft might be a better option.

A mate nearly earned his darwin award when we took on a flooded creek with a tyre tube. It was a good thing he was a bit apprehensive. When it went bad I was hanging on to rock as hard as I could, I remember considering my options and when I looked back to see what happened to my mate, all I could see was his helmet and life jacket floating on the water, without him in them.... Somehow I found the streng More..
