Firefighters Find Surprise After Putting Out Burning Truck

Lubbock County Sheriff's deputies are stumped after a bizarre fire Monday night in South East Lubbock County.
Sheriff Kelly Rowe says two Montford Unit guards heard several small explosions just after 10:00p.m. After checking to see what was going on, the two found a pick-up truck fully
engulfed in flames in the middle of a field near 3105 East County Road 7130. Woodrow Volunteer firefighters tried putting out the fire, but small explosions kept sending the flames even higher.
Sensing something strange, firefighters used a large saw to cut open the side panels of the truck bed. After pulling back the panels firefighters found block after block of marijuana. Sheriff Rowe says there was an estimated 50 pounds of marijuana hidden in three built in compartments – one of each side of the truck bed, and another underneath the truck. Sheriff Deputies are currently investigating this odd case as arson, but they're having trouble identifying the owner of the truck. The vin number was removed, and Rowe says it's highly likely the truck was stolen or from Mexico.
