Some guy is hanging on for his life outside your house...don't tie a bunch of sheets together, or drapes, or clothes, or anything at all to try to make a rope to toss to him...just keep running around to get different angles to film him from.

That's an extremely powerful current. It's pulled cars and buildings along with no trouble. Going in there to try to save that trapped guy would have been suicidal. It's terrible to have to watch and do nothing, but there was really nothing they could have done to help him while the water was still rushing through.
