Texas Executes 'Mentally Impaired' Inmate
A Texas man convicted of killing a police informant has been executed
after the US Supreme Court rejected arguments that he was too mentally
impaired to qualify for the death penalty. Marvin Wilson, 54, was
pronounced dead late on Tuesday, 14 minutes after his lethal injection

this may be a different take, and i may be corrected. In my opinion, IQ can be low in tests, but that doesn't mean they are not street savvy and dangerous criminals, seems like legal trickery to me. Unless they are seriously impared, such as real down syndrome victims, these people still know right/wrong. Possible even more so as the lawyers are stating they are not complex individuals, so good/bad, right wrong etc, pretty basic. He even had the savvy to kill an informant.

Did he single out his victim? Yes. Was the murder planned in advance? Yes. Did he understand the consequences of his actions? Yes. Then he is of sound mind and should be executed. The Retardation issue speaks to impairment of decision making and intent. If he made the right decisions to carry out his intent, then there is no impairment.
