Euro cup - eat your heart out! In Italy, every June, the brutal football sport of 'Calcio Storico' is played. It's a game of football unlike any other, violent and with no-holds barred.
In a game where the only rule is that kicking to the head is forbidden - it's not surprising when a player states, "once you're out there, it really shakes you". As men grapple, punch and watch their opponents bleed, the trainer of the Red Team - who are playing today - describes the sport as "the strongest emotion I've ever felt in my life".

@LostSomewhereInSpace Judging by this game it's the other way around. It starts out like this long ago. Then you have rugby, which seems less extreme, then later on, you get american football, which is all padding and rules. But I do see why you would say what you do, what with ultimate fighting and that craze, backyard wrestling and what have you. -Reality tv, why not? Though it should be remembered that all martial arts have been toned down from the original wartime application, to sports. Eve More..

Meh....this is nothing compared to the brutality during your typical American baseball game. Now THAT game is as physical as it gets.
LOL, jk. I love hockey because of the hitting and fights but it doesn't hold a candle to this crazy ass game. I love it!!

@dirtbiker201 Someone did a study, or at least claimed they did, a few years ago on American football and concluded that a starting player actually played about 8 minutes per game. The rest of the time he was sitting on the bench, walking back to the huddle, standing around, etc.
