  • I really dismiss what the talking head on the TV is saying. I think what is important is being able to recognize a bias when it is there no matter what you are watching. Thats hard to do especially when everything is biased to begin with as to define what is grossly biased serving some political agenda. I always say this, but I think Fox is the master marketer. They can hook their audience and have them watch the shit out of their programs as you pointed out by the numbers....but I fret when More..

  • That was, far and away the best video I've seen...period. The message, medium, annimation, humor balanced with hard facts...I can't wait for the next one. I'm gonna send this to so many people for one reason....it's what I've been trying to say but have been unable to articulate is such a fashion as you have done. I can't wait to see the comments. My only, and I can't stress enough..only critisism would be to use "real voices" rather than the digital ones and that's only cause I want p More..

LOL! I used to agree with that 100% back when I believed in the Republicans. (Regean spoiled me) The Republicans today are spendaholics with little regard for my rights or their constitutional limitations. When we talk about the old school true conservatives and their core values, I am in love.

Carl Sagan is one of my intellectual heroes as well. I didn't agree with his politics, but the man is brilliant beyond brilliant.

  • You've actually got a point. Fox represents the middle ground in journalism, and everything to the left of it is completely biased. I think there should be legislation in the free world to correct this.

  • Good Stuff. Voted. Maybe some are just better equipped
to recognize fluff from fact. I would rather have a passionate opinion from say, talk radio where I know up front it is the speakers opinion than to have the selective coverage news you get from the mainstream media. Liberalism has done great things. Liberalism in it's current form has runamuk and boarders on the insane. Black is white and up is down. We need people of character commanding the countries attention not a bunch or characters t More..

  • hey rackemup, nice yoursay. Maybe instead of using the computer voice "thingy" next time use your own voice with a filter. PM me and I'll tell you more about it.

I think that the owners of the media conglomerates have their own agendas and use their shows to further them. These owners or boards are powerful men and work hand in hand with the government. What better way a government can control the thoughts of its people.

I agree with SO much of what you said, and is being said on this thread. Fox is certainly not my mouthpiece, it's so darned fluffy!

BTW, I met Sagan at a convention years ago - got my pic taken w/ him with some doing, and it's a keeper.

  • This video holds really true if you're conservative by definition. I'm considered conservative by Canadian standards but I would be left by American standards. Most of the left flak is probably coming from people outside your country. Just my two cents!

    Hi,

Its kind of my point. Science is the pursuit of truth and not just those boring classes in which we dissected frogs and boiled things in beakers.

If we cant grasp the basics of education and be able to see bias in the media then we are at the mercy of anyone who can put across their view and those of our significant others. Its the basis for the misguided belief that many who watch Fox news are in fact sheeple. Followers of those who care enough to be unashamed in the way they put their view across.

Fox news appears to be completely unashamed in the bias it transmits. I argue that other news networks are guilty of it, just that they are more subtle about it. Fox news has the larger following, too. Its only a correlation; but that has dark implications about media manipulation and public perception.

Having said that, if we don't know any better, what's the difference? Pluralistic ignorance is bliss.
