The Jamaran destroyer fires its missile Tuesday
The Iranian navy successfully test- fired a new missile from its first indigenously-built Jamaran destroyer in the waters of the Persian Gulf, local satellite Press TV reported Tuesday.
In a footage shown on Press TV, the surface-to-surface Nour missile successfully hit its target at a distance of 100 km in the test-fire on Tuesday.
In the meantime, the military officials announced that they have plans to build an upgraded version of the missile with a range of 300 km, said Press TV.
In February, Iran's navy launched its first domestically-made, guided-missile destroyer Jamaran, a Mowdge Class vessel, which has a displacement of around 1,420 tons and is equipped with modern radars and electronic warfare capabilities.
According to Press TV, Iranian navy plans to add a second home- built destroyer to its fleet within the next two years.
