One has to wonder what Cenk Uygur is saying today. On October 1, before the first presidential debate, Uygur called the election for Obama in segments on his The Young Turks web show, on his Current TV show, and in the Huffington Post. Looking at recent polling, particularly in the state of Ohio, which no Republican has ever won the presidency without winning, Uygur declared the race over.
"The debates hardly matter," Uygur said in his Huffington Post article.
Since the first debate, Romney has enjoyed a swing of 5 points or more in most polls. Rasmussen and Gallup have the race tied. Pew has Romney leading by 4 points. In the two post-debate polls done in Ohio, Rasmussen has Obama up by 1 point, while WeAskAmerica has Romney up by 1 point, making the race a dead heat in that state.
It is, of course, still very possible, even likely, that Obama wins. But if he does not, this bold prediction will haunt Uygur for years to come.
